چکیده
Abstract. The flexural strength of ice surfaces bonded by freezing, termed freeze bond, was studied performing four-point bending tests freshwater S2 columnar-grained samples in the laboratory. were prepared milling two pieces, wetting with water varying salinity, bringing these together, and then letting them under a compressive stress about 4 kPa. salinity used for to generate bond varied from 0 35 ppt (parts per thousand). Freezing occurred air temperatures −25 −3 ∘C over periods that 0.5 ∼ 100 h. Results show an increase or temperature leads decrease strength. trend as function is similar presented Timco O'Brien (1994) saline ice. No freezing occurs at once exceeds 25 ppt. bonds levels off (i.e., saturates) within 6–12 h freezing; formed reach strengths are comparable higher than parent material less

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Effects of Reinforcement Geometry on Strength and Stiffness in Adhesively Bonded Steel-Timber Flexural Beams
A finite element model is developed to analyse, as a function of volume fraction, the effects of reinforcement geometry and arrangement within a timber beam. The model is directly validated against experimental equivalents and found to never be mismatched by more than 8% in respect to yield strength predictions. Yield strength increases linearly as a function of increasing reinforcement volume ...
متن کاملFlexural modulus, flexural strength, and stiffness of fiber-reinforced posts.
BACKGROUND The radiopacity degree of posts is not enough for adequate visualization during radiographic analyses. Glass fiber post with stainless steel reinforcement has been fabricated in an attempt to overcome this limitation. AIM This study was designed to determine the influence of this metal reinforcement on the post mechanical properties. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study evaluated fle...
متن کاملEffect of corrosion on flexural bond strength
Corrosion is one of the main causes affecting durability of structures. Corrosion effects on structures cannot be ignored and replaced. To understand the performance of structures there is a need to study the rate at which different corrosion levels occur. Hence the present investigation has been taken up to study the behaviour of NBS (National Bureau of Standard) beam specimens made up of Ordi...
